iQall - Your VoIP PBX Phone System

Hardware

IBM Bladecenter S
Mac Pro / Mac Mini
Intel NUC

iQall server

You can install iQall on almost any hardware. Depending on the area of application and your need for reliability, installations on IBM servers (or other manufacturers) are recommended. After weighing the advantages and disadvantages, Apple Mac Pro / Mini, ordinary desktop PCs or mini PCs (e.g. Intel NUC) can also be used.

The AIX, Linux (Debian) or Mac OS X operating systems are alternatively required for the installation. We do not recommend installation on a Windows system, as the telephone system is then no longer operated natively but via an emulation. Experience has shown that this leads to greater instability, which is particularly unacceptable in the area of corporate communication.

Of course, an installation can also take place on a virtualization platform such as VMware or Hyper-V.

Telephone

IQall supports the SIP, IAX and H.323 protocols. Since the latter two are becoming less and less important, we recommend buying phones that support an unadulterated SIP protocol. Some manufacturers have manipulated the protocol in such a way that the telephones they manufacture only work with their own telephone systems. We fundamentally reject this approach. In our opinion, every telephone according to the SIP standard should also be connectable to every telephone system, provided it also supports SIP.

Supplying the telephones with power via PoE (Power over Ethernet) has proven to be extremely useful. This means that there is no need for disruptive power supplies at the workplace, the technical reliability and energy efficiency of which are questionable anyway. Either PoE switches or PoE injectors are then required, but these have proven themselves in use, are purchased once and installed centrally.

Below we have added a selection of telephone manufacturers and their products as examples. At the moment we especially recommend the devices from the Chinese manufacturer Yealink. These are robust and have a particularly good price-performance ratio. The American manufacturer Polycom still stands for special voice quality. The price range is between € 75 and € 500 per phone and depending on the equipment.
